The Crush...The Perfect Stranger

You were looking at me like you wanted to stay, when I saw you yesterday...

I'm not wasting your time, I'm not playing no games...

No one but you, got me feeling this way...

There's so much we can't explain, maybe we're helping each other escape...

Who knows the secret tomorrow will hold? We don't really need to know...

Cause you're here with me now, I don't want you to go...

Hahaha...I see you and I'm with you...

You're here with me now, I don't want you to go...

Maybe we're perfect strangers...
Maybe it's not forever...
Maybe the light will change us...
Maybe we'll stay together...
Maybe we'll walk away...
Maybe we'll realize...
We're only human...
Maybe we don't need no reason...
Why???

Old Keys Won't Open New Doors

Each time the need to replace any key arises, notice that it's not entirely dependant on the key itself and neither is it dependant on its size nor it's type...but the key hole too must be replaced.

However, the replacement of the key hole attimes, may also not be entirely dependant on itself. It attimes may call for the replacement of something much bigger than the hole itself. A case in point can be the replacement of a key to a door room. It's replacement is never determined by the size or type of key hole but it's dependant on the entire door knob.

The same applies to me and you. Many are the times we've chosen to open new doors (that is to say, to move on from old habits) but more are the times we fail because we use old keys to open these doors.

We make decisions daily to move on to new things, but, how many things (old keys) are we not willing to let go of in order to achieve these? Is it the words we speak about ourselves, our destinies...daily??? or is it those friends that you think you can't do without??? Is it laziness??? What is it???

Overtime, I've learnt to genuinely appreciate my past which includes, the friends I once held so dear, the laziness I chose to get attached to, the words I thought I couldn't do without...I don't hate but I appreciate that life, because it's the life that has formed me. But today, I have confidently moved on from these because I have learnt that old keys don't open new doors. Therefore, if you and I are going to grow and maintain my spirituality, we've got to take a new turn and move past these old keys because New doors await us.

Is That Trash Really Trash?

Why do we at many times think that creativity is a calling for the “few”? Creativity is not a calling and even if it were, it is something that we are all called to. The art of being creative and innovative lies in the mind of each one of us and it is never exploited until we choose to explore it. Creativity and innovation are a result of exercising your mind through becoming more practical with the ideas engraved therein.

Just like Myles Munroe clears states that “Junk lies in the hand of the beholder” in his book Understanding Your Potential, everything around us right from the worst of trash to the most treasurable of items is another opportunity for us to explore our ability to be creative and innovation.

So what is it that you have? What is filling up your trash can or bin today? Is that trash really trash? What is it that you see yourself generating from that “useless” paper, thread, old clothes in your closet…? Have you thought about the possibility of turning that trash into the most valuable commodity? And if you and I believe that trash can be turned into treasure, what then is trash? In the world we live in, we choose to refer to potential as trash but in actual sense, no trash is actually trash.

The people we see today and think that they are more gifted with the ability to create are not actually gifted. The trick is that they have mastered so well the art of seeing anything and everything around them as an opportunity for them to discover treasure. Let us in the same way be alert to see all the opportunities around us. Creativity is for each one of us, so let’s utilize it and maximize our potential.

I Realised Self Through BAYC

Each time the memories of attending BAYC for the first time flash back, the thought of the attitude that I wore whenever this "BAYC" thing was talked about is never skipped. I recall the self-reassurances on a number of occasions that this just wasn't my kind of thing.
For a long time, I had failed to get to a place of forgiveness of a father that would reject their daughter. I had seen him as nothing but an unapologetic coward, I despised him, I thought that I didn't care since he was literally not a part of my life but I was lying, the fact that I hurt was proof enough that I did care. The pain of letting go of this bitterness during BAYC 2015 felt as though a heated machete piercing through a wounded chest. I was broken and numb but I remember it felt better after. If this is just a simpler definition of the term “healing”, I can boldly say I was healed.
Then came about one of the most sensitive and interesting talks, "Identity". Christian as I had claimed to be then, how could I have never known that I am a child of God, I'm holy, I'm righteous, I'm rich, I'm beautiful...why did the world have to set a standard for me this whole time? Why did I care when I wore that dress or skirt or blouse or jeans...and no one complimented me? How low did I think of myself!!! How much did I insult God in so doing? I mean a self-sufficient God who in himself is perfect, being lowered to the level of these gods that make mistakes??? God forbid.
Are you in a situation like I was in or even worse? Are you fed up of that life that you're living? Are you suffocating inside that closet alone? It could be a closet of hate, addictions to alcohol, smoke, drugs, premarital sex...you know it better than I do. God's love didn't give up on me even at my lowest point in life. After BAYC, I thought I'd still look back at my former life and appreciate it but trust me, I was wrong. God helped me discover myself and settle for what he had created me to be and here I am today, a better and more proud person of the “me” I see today.
BAYC brought me to a place of self-realization and as a result, I renounced so many of my ways, I broke off relationships that were headed nowhere, and all these I replaced with better relationships, I've become passionate and shameless about Christ over time. I have also understood the grace of God and trust me, I'd never trade it not even for the wealthiest of treasures.
BAYC did not change me!!! BAYC gave me an opportunity to change.

God Listens Even In That Crowded Room

"You're in the middle of nowhere!!!" This was the assumption that gripped me that morning. On the inside of me, I was broken, I felt like I was in some sort of packed closet…or a room stuffed with old books from which an unpleasant fragrance sprung…I didn’t feel like I was on earth yet I was. I was being suffocated by the thought that all of this was happening and yet no one seemed to care.
The question “have you ever been in a crowded room???” got me talking to a friend about the situation. I knew I was in a crowded room but I didn’t know how to explain the situation until she asked me what was going on. My room was full of relationships that were failing each day, habits that I was trying to do away with had still remained a problem, sickness had found comfort in my family, I was financially ill and yet I had too much to sort out…

I was petitioning God for so many things yet I was not asking him to fix me. I was trying too hard to be self-righteous, but on my own, I was doomed. I decided to drop my pride and submit to him wholly. At this point, the whole of me was convinced that he was listening but I did not know what to say to him. Amidst this, I just said a three worded prayer “God fix me”. My heart was tearing as I made this utterance but I was healing.

I wrote about my experience because I’m sure there’s someone who is going through a similar situation or even worse, but God is very aware that you have a lot to pour out to him. However, just like I was trying to do, he doesn’t want you to put it in order before saying it. Instead, his wish is that you mention to him that one sentence that really makes sense to both of you. Mine was “God fix me” but yours could be different. Whatever it is, take it to him, trust me when I say he is listening because he is.
